Community foundation awards scholarships

The Solomon Valley Community Foundation has awarded over $2,000 in scholarships to area students.

  • The Fine Arts Future Development Summer Camp Scholarship is for junior and senior high school students in the Solomon Valley area, including Mitchell, Cloud and Jewell Counties, who are pursuing a summer music or art camp. Samantha Zimmerman, Beloit, received a $300 scholarship.
  • The Fine Arts Future Development Higher Education Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in the Solomon Valley area, including Mitchell, Cloud, and Jewell Counties, that are pursuing a major in instrumental music or art. Tyler Long, Beloit, received a $850 scholarship.
  • The George Hoy Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Beloit High School or St. John the Baptist High School in Beloit. Breanna Schroeder, Beloit, and Laura Meyer, Concordia, each received a $500 scholarship.

The foundation is home to three scholarship funds, which were established by area donors to support students who are furthering their education. More information about the scholarship program can be found at www.solomonvalleycf.org/scholarships.
