Scholarship recipients announced

The Solomon Valley Community Foundation has awarded over $1,800 in scholarships to area students.

  • The Fine Arts Future Development Summer Camp Scholarship is for junior and senior high school students in the Solomon Valley area, including Mitchell, Cloud and Jewell Counties, who are pursuing a summer music or art camp. Makenna Stauffer, Glen Elder, received a $394 scholarship, and Jasmine Blue and Samantha Zimmerman, both of Beloit, each received a $250 scholarship.
  • The George Hoy Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Beloit High School or St. John the Baptist High School in Beloit. Adam Bates and Elizabeth Overmiller, both of Beloit, each received a $500 scholarship.

The foundation is home to three scholarship funds, which were established by area donors to support students who are furthering their education. More information about the scholarship program can be found at
