Community foundation awards scholarships

BELOIT, Kan.— The Solomon Valley Community Foundation has awarded over $2,000 in scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year. This includes three scholarships that are being renewed for recipients from previous years.

  • The Fine Arts Future Development Higher Education Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in the Solomon Valley area, including Mitchell, Cloud, and Jewell Counties, who are pursuing a major in instrumental music or art. Tyler Long, Beloit, received a $600 scholarship, and Elizabeth Duvall, Concordia, received a $400 scholarship.
  • The George Hoy Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Beloit High School or St. John the Baptist High School in Beloit. Brandon Bates, Beloit, and Laney Clark, Glen Elder, each received a $500 scholarship. Clara Eilert, Jewell, Adam Bates, Beloit, and Laura Meyer, Concordia, each received a $292 scholarship.
