Community foundation awards scholarships

BELOIT, Kan.— The Solomon Valley Community Foundation has awarded scholarships to area students for the upcoming academic year. This includes one scholarship that is being renewed for recipients from previous years.

  • The Fine Arts Future Development Summer Camp Scholarship is for junior and senior high school students in the Solomon Valley area, including Mitchell, Cloud and Jewell Counties, that are pursuing a summer music or art camp. Mason Thompson, Beloit, received a $250 scholarship.
  • The Fine Arts Future Development Higher Education Scholarship is for seniors graduating from the Solomon Valley area, including Mitchell, Cloud and Jewell Counties, that are pursuing a major in Instrumental Music or Art. Cameron Sadler, Beloit, received a $1,000 scholarship.
  • The George Hoy Scholarship is for seniors graduating from Beloit High School or St. John the Baptist High School in Beloit. Addison Emmot and Maria Mick, both of Beloit, each received $500 scholarships. Anthony Henke, Beloit, Elizabeth Meyer, Concordia, Laney Clark, Glen Elder, Brandon Bates, Beloit, and Laura Meyer, Concordia, each received a renewed $400 scholarship.

The foundation is home to three scholarship funds, which were established by area donors to support students who are furthering their education. More information about the scholarship program can be found at www.solomonvalleycf.org/scholarships.
