Solomon Valley Community Foundation accepting grant applications

BELOIT, Kan.— The Solomon Valley Community Foundation is now accepting applications for spring grants. Online applications are available December 1 and due February 1, 2021.

Recently, the community foundation awarded The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church a grant to support the third-grade classroom. Because each student learns in different modalities, teacher Beth Eilert wanted to be sure to meet each student’s needs for flexible seating, visual learning, and hands on activities.

With the funding from the Solomon Valley Community Foundation, Eilert was able to purchase a new rug and STEM cabinet for the classroom. “The classroom carpet has had a huge impact on our classroom environment. The students absolutely love it and it serves as a great boundary for us when we meet and sit on the floor,” said Eilert. “We are very appreciative of the items we were able to purchase. Thank you!”

Over $80,000 is available to charitable projects in Mitchell County. Grants will be awarded from the following funds:

  • Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund – available for programs and projects that address education, health care, community social services and security, conservation and environment, arts and culture, and community beautification.
  • Community Impact Fund for Solomon Valley – available for projects that improve the quality of life for Mitchell County residents.

Grants are limited to communities in the Solomon Valley service area and will be awarded through a competitive application process. Nonprofit organizations, government and public entities, educational institutions and churches are encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on February 1.
