SVCF ACCEPTS FIRST ROUND OF GRANT APPLICATIONS
In December 2014, SVCF held its first grant cycle, awarding just over $3,000 to four organizations. The foundation's Community Impact Fund was utilized to generate the available grant dollars.
Today the Community Impact Fund is around $1.7 Million and generates approximately $75,000 annually in spendable revenue! For more SVCF history check out our 10th Anniversary series.


Fall Grant Cycle- Competitive
Open July 1 - Aug. 1
Grants are limited to communities in Mitchell County and will be awarded through a competitive application process. Nonprofit organizations, government and public entities, educational institutions and churches are encouraged to apply.
Spring Grant Cycle- Competitive
Open Dec. 1 - Feb. 1
Grants are limited to communities in Mitchell County and will be awarded through a competitive application process. Nonprofit organizations, government and public entities, educational institutions and churches are encouraged to apply.
Dream Big 2.0
Closes Dec. 1, 2025
$10,000 non-competitive grant available to each of the 7 incorporated towns in Mitchell County. City must act as fiscal agent. Grants can not be used for budgetary project or item.
New Endowment Match Incentive
Jan. 1, 2025 - annual grant on a first come, first serve basis
1:1 match, up to $2,000 for donors' gift(s) to establish a new endowed Field of Interest, Designated, Organization or Donor Advised fund. Donor must agree to reach the $10,000 fund minimum within 3 additional years.

Who can apply?
SVCF will consider grant requests from all 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, government/public entities, educational institutions, and religious organizations.
Individuals or organizations that do NOT fall into one of the above entities are encouraged to partner with a fiscal agent in one of those categories.
Grants are typically restricted to the geographic region of Mitchell County.
What type of support is funded?

Projects or programs that serve the community and/or advance the mission of the organization.

Seed money to establish or initiate a new project, program, or organization, including operating expenses.

Capacity building or activities that strengthen an organization to increase its ability to fulfill its mission, including technology & equipment, professional development & training, additional staff to implement a new program, etc.
What type of grant requests will NOT be considered?

Incomplete, incorrect, or late applications.

Political projects of any kind.

Organizations or projects that practice discrimination of any kind.

Operating deficits or retirement of debt (if the project has already happened or been paid for, this is considered funding debt).
Is an EIN or Tax ID Number required?
Yes. In order for the community foundation to consider your request, you must have an EIN or Tax ID number. If you do not have either, please contact Julia Rabe before you apply.
Can my organization apply for more than one project at at time?
Yes. The online grant portal allows you to start multiple applications within the grant cycle.
Do I have to complete my application all at once?
No. At the bottom of the application page, is a "Save as Draft" button. We recommend saving your application often and before logging out. You can go in at a later time to continue working on your application. We recommend that you cut and paste your application answers after each queswtion into a Word document to save as backup.
What time do I need to submit my application by?
All applications must be submitted by 11:59 (CST) on the day of the deadline. You will be unable to submit your application after that.
Do I have to use the provided budget page?
Yes. Your application will not be considered if you submit any other budget form.
When is the grant report due?
Your final report is due within one year from the date your organization receives notification of the grant award OR 30 days from the completion of your project- whichever comes sooner. Please not that your organization will not be eligible to receive grant funding if you have an overdue grant report.
What if my project gets delayed?May I request a grant extension?
If you need to request an extension to your grant period, please submit a formal, brief (one page at most) explanation, including the length of the extension (with a firm end date) to julia@solomonvalleycf.org. Extension requests should be sent as soon as circumstances indicate one is needed, and well before the original final report due date. If your request is approved, the final grant report will then be due 30 days following the agreed-upon, revised end date.

THEATRE CAMP PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON LOCAL YOUTH
Mitchell County Communities That Care, Inc., was awarded $3,500 from SVCF to bring the Missoula Traveling Children's Camp to the Beloit area. The musical theatre camp provides a week-long, full theater experience to kids in first through twelfth grades.
