Solomon Valley Community Foundation awards spring grants BELOIT, Kan.— During its spring grant cycle, the Solomon Valley Community Foundation awarded over $50,000 in grants to 19 projects throughout Mitchell County. The following organizations received funding: City of Cawker City Fire Department, to cover the cost of protective equipment for volunteer fire department. American Legion Post #57, to purchase 12 American flags and flag poles for Memorial Day display at Elmwood Cemetery and St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Solomon Valley Community Foundation accepting grant applications BELOIT, Kan.— The Solomon Valley Community Foundation is now accepting applications for spring grants. Online applications are available December 1 and due February 1, 2021. Recently, the community foundation awarded The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church a grant to support the third-grade classroom. Because each student learns in different modalities, teacher Beth Eilert wanted to be sure to meet each student's needs for flexible seating, visual learning, and hands on activities.
