SVCF GETS INTENTIONAL ABOUT ENGAGING OUR YOUTH
Our youth represent the heartbeat of our community's future. Within them, we see emerging leaders, innovators, and change-makers who will shape the course of our communities and drive progress forward. As with generations before, who laid the foundation for what our community embodies today, we recognize the importance of doing the same to ensure our communities continue to thrive.
The SVCF Board has a passion and vision of engaging the youth of Mitchell County in philanthropy. Through committee work our Board identified the 5th graders of Mitchell County as our focus for investment of education, time, and empowerment. This fall our staff and board members visited every 5th-grade classroom throughout the county. The students engaged in learning more about philanthropy and how to apply their time, talents, and treasure to the things that mean the most to them. SVCF looks forward to continuing this work and hosting the 5th-grade classes at our Give to Grow event this spring. Thanks to two generous donors the students will receive $20 and get to experience philanthropy firsthand!
