Solomon Valley Community Foundation Awards Spring Grants

MITCHELL CO, KAN. During its spring grant cycle, the Solomon Valley Community Foundation awarded nearly $50,000 in grants to 17 projects throughout Mitchell County. The following organizations received funding:


  • Beloit Ministerial Association, for the purchase of food vouchers used by Mitchell County Food Pantry.

  • Mitchell County Rural Fire District #3, for the purchase of Fire Helmets.

  • Waconda Cultural Association, for enhancements to the Prairie Art, Education & Waconda Visitor Center.

  • Mitchell County 4H Council, for upgrades to the 4H Building.

  • Glen Elder Volunteer Fire Department, for the purchase of an extractor washing machine.

  • Zion Lutheran Church, in support of the Shelter House expansion for Summer Kids Cafe.

  • Glen Eder Senior Center, for upgrades to the facility.

  • USD 273 STEM Camp, for the purchase of 5 Spike Education Robotics Kits.

  • Mitchell County Rescue Squad, to aid in the purchase of respirators and masks for emergency extrication.

  • Mitchell County Fire Department #1, to aid in the purchase of a backup generator.

  • Tipton Community Foundation, to aid in the purchase of bathroom fixtures in the Tipton Sports & Arts Complex.

  • VFW Post #6242, for the purchase of a new serving line and attic ladder.

  • Pawnee Mental Health, in support of expanding mental health care in Mitchell County.

  • NCK Casa Inc., for the purchase of recruitment materials.

  • Waconda Baseball, in support of updates to the concession stand.

  • Glen Elder Lions Club to support the 25th anniversary of the Best Dam Run in Kansas.

  • Solomon Valley Hospice to aid in the creation of their "Precious Memories Program".




This round of grants was made possible by the community foundation’s Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund and the SVCF Community Impact Fund.
