Solomon Valley Community Foundation Awards Spring Grants

MITCHELL CO, KAN. During its spring grant cycle, the Solomon Valley Community Foundation awarded over $35,000 in grants to 17 projects throughout Mitchell County. The following organizations received funding:

● Beloit Ministerial Association, for food vouchers used by MC Food Pantry.

● North Central Kansas Genealogical Society, for the purchase of a computer and software programs.

● Post Rock Humane Society, to increase education and knowledge of Post Rock Humane Society pets, as well as fund spay, neuter and vet check services.

● North Central Kansas Community Network, for the purchase of two weigh-in-scales, dongles, hard cases and a laptop.

● Glen Elder Senior Center, for the purchase of a computer.

● Waconda Cultural Association, for performers at the 2024 Waconda Indian Festival.

● Mitchell County EMS, for the purchase of emergency child restraints.

● NCK Tech Endowment Association & Foundation, for the purchase of a wheelchair accessible ramp and handrails for the graduation stage.

● St. Boniface Catholic Church, for the purchase of canopy pole tents.

● Tipton Catholic High School, for the purchase of a stair lift.

● VFW Post 6242, for the purchase of materials for a bathroom remodel.

● Glen Elder Senior Center, for the purchase of a commercial steamer.

● City of Cawker City, for the purchase of a portable ADA restroom unit at Lakeside Golf Course.

● Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems, for the use in designing, implementing and analyzing Community Health Assessment findings.

● USD 273, for the purchase of robotic sets.

● City of Tipton, for the purchase of an ADA automatic door opener.

● USD 273 Mitchell County Early Learning Center, for the implementation of an outdoor space.

This round of grants was made possible by the community foundation’s Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, which supports projects and programs that improve the community’s quality of life.

The foundation’s next grant cycle will open July 1, with applications due August 1, 2024.

Now accepting grant & scholarship applications!

The Solomon Valley Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications for their spring grant cycle. Online applications are now available and are due by February 1, 2024.
Grants & scholarships are limited to communities in Mitchell County and will be awarded through a competitive application process. Nonprofit organizations, government and public entities, educational institutions and churches are encouraged to apply.
Three scholarships are available to students and applications must be submitted through the foundation’s online scholarship portal by February 15, 2024.

SVCF Celebrates Successful Match Month with over $83,000 raised locally!

The Solomon Valley Community Foundation is excited to announce yet another successful November Match Month campaign. As a result of generous donors throughout Mitchell County, and beyond, a total of $83,655 was raised!

Solomon Valley Community Foundation Hosts Mitchell County Non-Profits at Annual Roundtable

The Solomon Valley Community Foundation hosted a Non-Profit Roundtable meeting on Tuesday, October 3rd at the Mitchell County Historical Museum. Over 30 residents representing various Mitchell County non-profit groups were in attendance and engaged in networking, discussions, and enjoyed lunch provided by SVCF thanks to Ray’s Apple Market. Each non-profit was given time to share on upcoming events and projects, as well as discuss aspirations and challenges facing each of their respective organizations.
