Solomon Valley Community Foundation Awards Spring Grants

BELOIT, Kan. During its fall grant cycle, the Solomon Valley Community Foundation awarded over over $30,000 in grants to 12 projects throughout Mitchell County. The following organizations received funding:

  • Murals of Mitchell County, for the purchase of individual mural plaques.
  • Beloit Ministerial Association, to livestream videos for Griefshare Support.
  • The City of Glen Elder, for the purchase of fencing for Pioneer Cemetery.
  • Waconda Cultural Association, for support of the 2023 Wakonda Indian Festival
  • Mitchell County, for the benefit of Mitchell County Convention & Tourism and Solomon Valley Economic Development for the purchase of marketing and recruitment materials.
  • VFW Post 6242, for improvements to the interior of the building
  • St. John the Baptist Catholic Church/School, for the purchase of AED unit.
  • NCK Outdoors Inc., For the purchase of First Aid and safety improvements.
  • Post Rock Humane Society, to increase education of pet adoption and the mission of Post Rock Humane Society.
  • NCK Technical College Endowment Association & Foundation, for the purchase of hammocks and shades to be placed near campus housing for the benefits of the students.
  • Pawnee Mental Health Services, Inc., for enhancements to a Youth Respite House.
  • City of Tipton, For the purchase of picnic tables for the concession stand.

This round of grants was made possible by the community foundation’s Dane G. Hanses Community Grant Fund, which supports projects and programs that improve the community’s quality of life.
