Solomon Valley Community Foundation hosts Non-Profit Meetup

On Friday, March 10th Solomon Valley Community Foundation hosted a non-profit meetup in the student union of NCK Tech. Over 25 attendees, representing 22 various Mitchell County non-profits were in attendance.

Guest speakers Chris Lehecka and Jessica Allen presented on behalf of the Greater Salina Community Foundation. Chris kicked off the discussion with an overview of GSCF’s Match Madness, a one day matching event designed specifically for area non-profits. “It’s a great opportunity for area non-profits to not only benefit from a local match, but also benefit from the visibility of a countywide event”, explained Julia Rabe, SVCF Director of Donor Realtions. She went on to say, “SVCF has benefited tremendously from our annual Dane G. Hansen Match Month campaign, if we can apply that locally to our non-profits it’s a win for all. SVCF is looking for ways that we can not only support our area non-profits, but also help them create long-term funding sources, an event such as GSCF’s Match Madness is one of the ideas we’ve been tossing around.”

The meeting also included a presentation from GSCF Donor Service Coord. Jessica Allen, on the benefits of creating endowed Organization Funds. And finally wrapped up with an introductory video to the Raise Money course created by Generous Change.

SVCF Director, Colleen Eberle explained, “Mitchell County is blessed with an abundance of really amazing non-profits who work for the betterment of our communities. We are excitied to continue collaborating and expanding our capacity to support the work they do.
