Mitchell County Downtown

At a Mitchell County Strategic Doing meeting, the downtown development committee presented that installing a sound system was one of their main priorities. “The idea for a sound system has been talked about in the community for a while. Even with the rate of new technology, it has taken a long time to find a system that would work with our infrastructure,” said Julia Rabe.

“We were able to kick off the fundraising for this project thanks to the community foundation. We raised over $26,000 total and a big start was this $3,000 grant,” said Rabe. “Our downtown sound system has made a very positive impact in our community.”

SVCF participates in Kansas CPIN program and develops Dream Big initiative

With the overwhelming success of Mitchell County Strong, SVCF started to explore additional opportunities to take on greater roles in community and economic development efforts and as such, applied to participate in the Kansas Community Philanthropy Innovators Network (CPIN).
